About Us

When traveling to new areas, we found ourselves seeking out coffee shops. We love the vibe of a coffee shop and a great latte. We started wanting to be a part of that world.

Working for other people our whole lives, we wanted something that was our own and something we were passionate about.  We love coffee and found the lack of consistency around us troubling, so we sought out to create consistent roasts. We also wanted a business that helped causes that we felt were important. We have three rescue dogs whom we are obsessed with. We watched one of our dogs take a full year to come out of her shell. That experience, for us was so satisfying to be a part of. We knew when we started talking about roasting coffee that we wanted our three “girls” to be a major part of it.

Our great great friend, Derek Diedrickson, to designed our logo with our three dogs being the focal point. Because our dogs are always barking….Barking Sisters Coffee was a no-brainer for a name.

Bryan works for the Dept. of Navy and has been with the navy in various capacities since 1996. Jody has been in sales for over 20 years. We make every attempt to source our beans from farms that are either organic or tied to a cause. A majority of our beans are sourced from female owned coffee co-ops which help provide various resources for women and their families in their  local area. Our Costa Rican beans help with the conservation of an endangered Costa Rican panther.

We are very much a family business with all of our roasts named after our kiddos, our dogs and our grandson. We strive to provide a great coffee that helps people either start their day, keep going in the afternoon, or as Jody likes….have a little latte after dinner.

Our long term goals will include a coffee cart, farmer's markets and a brick-and-mortar shop. We are enjoying where we are now and looking forward to the possibilities of tomorrow.
